Back to the bugs

Entomologists they are, the kids were ready and willing to share their Big Bugs knowledge with Omi at the Arboretum today. What a difference a couple of weeks made: it was warm and sunny (hence all the squinting) this time!
Yes, that is a damselfly. Good job! I only wish I had audio with the photo; the frogs in the pond were rather entertaining. ;)
The daddy long legs has become a favorite in our yard. Now that Will knows they're not classified as spiders, he's happy to pick 'em up and show them around the sandbox.
Look at those two hop! (Yes, you have to look really hard.) I haven't seen such action since I was knee-high to a grasshopper. Sorry, couldn't resist.
The ants went marching, but the kids kept posing. Together. Feel the love! Until later, when Ellie wants Will's bulldozer.
We all enjoyed the visit, and he kids' hard work was rewarded with lunch and a trip to the Children's Garden to check out the tadpoles (and one cooperative frog). If only I could have managed a camera while Ellie tried wading! Maybe Omi can contribute a few photos to the blog. ;)
