Dave's first annual 39th birthday

Dave lucked out with his birthday celebration in at least three regards. First, the government was kind enough to give him the day off, as they do each year. It has something to do with his seniority at BLS. And the fact that he was born on Veterans' Day.
Second, the proximity of his birthday to Thanksgiving gave us the opportunity to celebrate while he was home for the holiday. Because we were looking for an opportunity to eat more -- especially pie! -- about now.
Third, his loving family didn't get all in his face about the big 4-0. After all, it's just the anniversary of his 39th birthday, right?
