Valentine's Day recap

I know... I've been slacking on the blog. My apologies; I guess we've been busy. We seem to be having no trouble whiling away our winter. We had an extra treat Valentine's Day, visiting the DuPage Children's Museum to celebrate our friend Luca's second birthday.
Ellie is finally old enough to wield tools. Stand back!
Will's an old pro. Can you even stand him in his safety goggles? This photo is bound to be blackmail somewhere down the line...

We took a break in the action for a delicious birthday lunch. The museum apparently knows where to find the best thin crust pizza in Naperville!
Luca, I'd keep an eye on Elle, too, if I were you!
The birthday boy! The man of the hour! He was a doll, as usual, blowing out the candle by himself and patiently unwrapping his gifts. The cake was to-die-for, too -- well worth blue lips and teeth. ;)

The kids had plenty of sugar to burn off, so we headed back to play.
Here, Will and Ellie cooperate to build intricate pipes. I think they redirected the airflow. Or something. Ask Will.

Then, it was over to the water table, which I'd admittedly been avoiding. Only because the kids invariably end up soaked.
But look at how much fun, under a plexiglass bubble.
Believe it or not, he stayed dry! Um, here. His sleeves and jeans collected more than a drip or two.
My silly geese. Ellie was dry here, but that was short-lived. She left wearing her diaper and coat.

Will tested out the megabubble chamber, where you can attempt to create a bubble around yourself.
He did pretty well -- you can see the bubble if you look closely. You can also see how wet his arms and legs are. :P

Shortly thereafter, we somehow managed to redirect their attention elsewhere in the museum.
Will took quite a liking to this fantastic perpetual motion (I think) machine. He released balls down the tracks and watched the action for days (okay, I'm exaggerating a little).
Elle took a similar liking to a much less elaborate set of ramps and balls. What a fabulously busy day! Thanks, and happy birthday to Luca!

Will looks like a natural in those safety googles!
