10

Turning 10 is cause enough for celebration. The kids' second-cousin Gavin turned 10 in the wake of a difficult week, and the day before we celebrated the life of his grandma Helga, who we love fiercely and miss dearly. So Friday was a day to party like a 10-year-old boy...

Lucky for us, Gavin set his sights on a visit to Chicago's Museum of Science and Industry. Although Will and Elle are a wee bit young to appreciate the breadth and depth of the museum's exhibits, I daresay they managed to have fun and learn a thing or two.
So far, rocket science has the lead over brain surgery for Will. I'm not sure whether he'd prefer the moon or Mars.
Despite her trip to the moon, Ellie still sported her Fisher-Price stethoscope most of the weekend.
Will mugs in front of the museum's expansive model train display. The tall building over his left shoulder is a replica of the Burnett Building, where Andy works.
He may love his LEGOs, Bionicles, dinosaurs and Star Wars: The Clone Wars, but he still can't pass up a John Deere. ;)
Gavin teaches his cousins to feign distress as the Zephyr bears down on them. Will caught on quick; he was Gavin's constant companion all weekend. Ellie still needs a few more years of shenanigans under her belt (yikes!).
