Yo-Yo Ma for Grandma
Our belated gift to Grandma for her milestone birthday (39!) this past spring was an evening at Ravinia with the whole fam: us, Grandpa (of course!), Aunt Liz and Aunt Val. Unfortunately Grandma's favorite Itzhak Perlman wasn't in Chicago this summer, but we did have the opportunity to see another of the world's best musicians, Yo-Yo Ma. He did not disappoint!

But who could complain in the midst of a picnic dinner?
If only Grandma, who has succumbed to Will's summer cold, had been feeling better. But the music had to be good medicine, as did all of our smiling faces.
The kids were intrigued by the music, both the Chicago Symphony and the maestro cellist. They also had fun with their Ravinia souvenirs as the sun went down. Check out Ellie's stellar ring-turned-bracelet.
And Will's fancy conductor's baton.
Many happy returns, Grandma!
