Three

I've decided the bittersweetness of our baby turning 3 is overwhelmingly sweet. We can't replicate those first tender months, or the thrill of watching first milestones, but these early childhood years are proving something awesome in their own right.

Ellie was specific in her choice for her birthday cake. First it was definitely Cinderella. Then it was definitely Sleeping Beauty. Luckily she didn't change her mind again. Here, she's boldly stealing a taste before we add the candles.
Among our family gathered to celebrate was my grandma, Busia, who turned 3 in 1923.
Make a wish!
The demure Miss Elle begins opening her presents.
The purple princess dress was a hit, to say the least. Thanks, Uncle Early and Aunt Allison!
Will surely will be knighted for his present-opening efforts.
After the gift wrap had been cleared, Aunt Lizzy and Will sat down to assemble Ellie's LEGO house. Ellie was happy to wait—for a while—with the new LEGO family.
Happy birthday, sweet Elle. The fun has just begun.
