Welcome back, Station #2!

Downers Grove's Fire Station #2 just completed a big building project much like our new home: they demo'd the old, antiquated station and built a bigger, better one. Daddy brought Will and Ellie to today's open house to see the finished product.

The kids played on the back of an old firetruck (I suspect Will was making siren noises back there)...
Checked out the fire fighters' gear (with Will's buddy Justin -- what a treat!). You have to love Will's CAT gear, too...
Took an engine out for a spin (heh heh). What does that lever do, Will?
And posed for a photo op in front of the "hunormous" (one of Will's favorite words -- ours, too) ladder truck now in residence at the station.
Holy 'mole, that is one big truck!
We feel a little bit safer knowing the station is back in business just a few blocks from home.
