Day of the Dads
Father's Day began with a rather fierce storm that, thankfully, left us with only minor damage. Neighbors a few blocks away fared much worse when a tree fell on (and condemned) their house and car. Suddenly a downed branch isn't such a big deal. Will took on the brunt of the work so Daddy could sit back and relax on his special day. Yes, that's Ellie sitting back and relaxing, too.
His first order of business was using his Cat front-end loader to haul his basketball hoop out from under the branch.
Daddy pitched in to help drag the branch to the curb, where it patiently waited for chipping. Unfortunately, our village public works department only picked up parkway tree debris, so Will and Daddy chopped it up themselves.
All that work wasn't without reward: we later joined Omi and Opa for a lovely (and yummy!) brunch at Cantigny. We're awfully proud of all the dads in our family. :)
