"There are two lasting bequests we can give our children. One is roots. The other is wings."

A family tradition
Or, as we should call it, "An excuse for Mommy to eat ice cream." Birthday visits to Oberweis started as a way the (then) three of us could celebrate Will's summer birthday before cake with the extended fam. And, although it was hardly warm and sunny today, far be it for us to deny our daughter her birthday ice cream. Ahem.
Don't mess with a girl and her ice cream. Can't you feel the concentration?
Andy and I wish we could remember what the double-decker rooks were supposed to be. Something in Star Wars, no doubt.
A friendly game of "Knudsen Rules" chess.
A twirl or two with a pink balloon.
I asked the kids how old they are. Clearly Will is 5. Ellie might be running for president.
