"Hay" you!

We enjoyed a gorgeous afternoon at the annual Newcomers hayride. Take a crisp autumn day, add friends and s'mores, and you're virtually guaranteed a good time.

Andy and Ellie sample the s'mores. Betcha can't eat just one! I'm reminded -- daily -- that Elle looks like me, but I think she looks like her dad here.
S'mores and cookies fueled Will's "airplane."
Oh! And did we mention there was a hayride at the hayride? ;) The kids and Dad posed aboard the wagon. These days, I couldn't pay Will to look at the camera. At least Ellie is open to bribery (hence the cookie in hand).
Thanks to the muscle behind (or, rather, in front of) our ride.
Finally, we spent some time hanging around the barn. We met Scout, a former wild mustang who now resides at Danada Farms. He doesn't wear horse shoes, eats only grass, and is slowly acclimating to life in captivity. A fascinating story.
Wild mustangs are, apparently, smaller than the average thoroughbred. But for the record, horses are BIG.
