"There are two lasting bequests we can give our children. One is roots. The other is wings."

Scenes from two cell phones

Two iPhones + seldom-downloaded photos= a glut of random pictures from spring/summer 2010.

First up, a trip to the Shedd—emphasis on the double-d—with the Mielkes. Five happy campers and a few new stuffed friends frolic under a sculpture on the museum campus. 30 April
Wacky Will's wacky fauxhawk on Whittier's Wacky Hair Day. Will didn't want to give up the hairstyle... hopefully he'll learn from the mistakes of his father! 20 May
Father's Day at Butterfield. A beautiful day with our beautiful kids. 20 June
Will and friends Eliot, Jack, Jackson and Keaton were LEGO maniacs at their space-themed building camp. The moms who picked up were always treated to a review of the day's creations: clones and vehicles,
a metropolis,
and a pyramid of grand proportion. 22-25 June
Next, a bug way too big for the Midwest. What is this thing? It was a very large beetle of some sort, with big, sharp, pointy "teeth." Happily, it was outside, and we were inside. 27 June

And finally, another brush with greatness: Andy and his colleague Dave spy Lord Stanley's Cup in Daley Plaza. The line for official photo ops was too long, so they improvised. 29 June
